City To Invite Former Residents Home Again

The Sioux City Economic Development Department is launching a new campaign targeted to former residents this holiday season. As part of a new marketing initiative, print ads and electronic billboards will target parents and families who want to see their children move back to Sioux City. The ads direct people to a newly designed portion of the City Economic Development website located at www.locatesiouxcity.com/home.

Sioux City MSA Ranks Top in Nation for Economic Development

The Sioux City Metro is number one for economic development with populations between 50,000 and 200,000, according to corporate real estate publication Site Selection magazine. Ron Starner, General Manager of Site Selection, made the announcement to a crowd of 150 business executives from Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota at a noon luncheon today.

Sioux City In Top Ten for Personal Income Growth

The Sioux City metro jumped nearly 7 percent in per capita income in 2007, topping the national average and nearly doubling the previous year’s growth rate, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis at the United States Department of Commerce. The federal government's annual report of income growth studied 363 Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA) in the United States with the Sioux City MSA cracking the topten and tying for sixth most improved in percentage of income growth over the previous year.
